CUNYirt org is back!

Hey Grad Center community,

The CUNY Internet Research Team (CUNYirt) is back!

CUNYirt is a student-led group of scholars interested in exploring, discussing, and using online and digital research methods. The group also includes faculty and staff and meets regularly throughout the year. We invite people of all levels of technical skills who are conducting or have an interest in online and digital research to join the group here on the Commons and attend the meetings.

Our founding coordinators, the brilliant Dr. Collette Sosnowy and the amazing Dr. Kiersten Greene, have handed the baton over to us (Edwin and Micki) to help CUNYirt continue being the imaginative and supportive space that many digital scholars here at the GC had been looking for.

Our first meeting of the year is being set for Thursday, November 21st from 12:30-2p (room TBA).

More details about the agenda to follow.

Students please officially register!

CUNYirt has become a student organization through the Doctoral Students Council (DSC). This will allow us to have support from the DSC for meetings and events.

In order to maintain our standing we need to have 23-25 students officially registered as members of the group.

Please go to the link here:

Then click on either “login” (if you’re already a DSC web user) or “register” (if you have not been a DSC web user previously)

Once you are logged in please note us as one of the organizations you are registered for.

Or, take the following steps:

1. Log in to the DSC website (—you will need to register with the site if you are not already a member)

2. Hover over the tab on the left named “Chartered Organizations” and click on “Join/Sign Rosters”

3. Click on the name of the organization you are interested in joining. In this case, click INTERNET RESEARCH TEAM

4. Make sure you are signing on the Fall 2013 semester and click the link that says “JOIN THIS ORGANIZATION”. Fill in the requested information (no need to put “reasons”) and you are done!

If you have any questions, feel free to email edwin,
